A new actress is breathing life into a longtime character on iconic soap opera General Hospital, with Alexa Havins coming aboard to play Lulu Spencer Falconeri.
The character – the daughter of daytime legends Luke (Anthony Geary) and Laura Spencer (Genie Francis) – has been on a coma in the show for the past four years.
The character was originated by child actors Stephanie Allen (2001-2003) and Tessa Allen (2004–05) with Julie Marie Berman (2005–13) and Emme Rylan (2013–2020) playing the character as adults.
After four years in a coma, there was speculation that the character would wake up soon, after a July episode where mother Laura and ex Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) visited her in the hospital, while Jonathan Jackson confirmed in June he is returning as Lulu’s brother Lucky.
The casting also comes a month after Rylan confirmed that she was not returning as Lulu, with Daytime Confidential first reporting the casting of Havins, 43, on Tuesday.

The General Hospital producers reportedly went through an ‘exhaustive’ search for the new Lulu, with Jen Landon (Yellowstone) and Marci Miller (Days of Our Lives) in the running.
The report added that the producers did reach out to Berman to return as Lulu, though she declined.
However, the most recent Lulu, Rylan, confirmed on her Instagram story that she was not asked back.
‘Yes it is true. GH has decided to recast Lulu. Although I am very disappointed with their choice, I am glad to finally have closure. (And thank goodness GH brought all of you fabulous people into my life. Love you guys :)’ Rylan said in her story.
How Lulu will react to waking up after a four-year coma remains to be seen, though her first appearance back will be sometime this fall.
Lulu slipped into a coma after being caught in a bomb attack, which was perpetrated by her uncle Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober).
Recent episodes have shown that Lulu is in need of an liver transplant to survive, though it’s ultimately not clear how her return will play out yet.
The producers have also not given a specific air date for Lulu’s return on General Hospital quite yet.
