When Sister Wives premiered back in 2010, Kody Brown probably had no idea that his plural family would completely fall apart in the span of a decade.

With the show currently in its 19th season, the focus has shifted to Kody’s relationship with Robyn Brown, his last-standing sister wife, after Christine, Janelle, and Meri Brown chose to leave him.

But since their separation, Kody’s relationship with Robyn has been under constant scrutiny, especially because many believe that his favoritism for his youngest wife is what led to the breakdown of the entire family.

The drama surrounding Kody and Robyn’s dynamic has been building up for years. Some of it goes as far back as Sister Wives Season 1 when fans first noticed Robyn’s obvious jealousy toward the other wives.

The tensions only intensified when the Brown family patriarch refused to listen to Christine, Janelle, and Meri’s complaints about him prioritizing Robyn over everyone else.

As the show progressed, the cracks in Kody’s relationships with his first three wives and their kids became all the more evident. But the latest chapter in this ongoing feud is shaping up to be more explosive than ever.

Kody and Robyn Brown’s Relationship Timeline Doesn’t Make Sense

Sister Wives Season 1 began with Kody letting his family know that he had been courting Robyn and was planning on making her his fourth wife.

In the first few episodes of the season, Kody was making multiple trips to go and meet Robyn, who lived five hours away from him back then.

This obviously seemed like a strange choice, especially since Kody and Robyn were both practicing Mormons and claimed to adhere to the law of chastity.

This meant that the two were abstaining from physical intimacy before marriage. However, Christine thinks there’s no way Kody was making such a long trip every weekend just to go and discuss his and Robyn’s shared values.

While Kody would occasionally bring his older kids along with him on these trips, the show has never provided clarity on where everyone would spend the night.

This led many fans to believe that the other wives would send their kids to make sure that Kody and Robyn were maintaining a strictly platonic relationship. But even then, the situation leaves a lot of room for doubt.

If the two of them were spending so much private time together before even getting engaged, what’s to say that the lines between emotional and physical intimacy weren’t getting blurred?

Kody Brown Pretty Much Confirmed His Infidelity

Even if one gives Kody and Robyn the benefit of the doubt, there’s no denying that Kody had no problem bending his morals when it came to his youngest wife.

What’s worse is that the reality star wasn’t even ashamed about it! In the 2012 memoir, Becoming Sister Wives: The Story of an Unconventional Marriage, Kody revealed that he and Robyn sealed their engagement with a kiss.

Now, this wouldn’t be that big of a deal, but in the Mormon faith, any degree of intimacy before marriage is considered a sin. What’s even more shocking is that Kody didn’t kiss any of his other wives until they were at the altar.

The show also touched upon how heartbroken Christine was at the premarital kiss, especially since she did not kiss Kody during their courtship because he was a married man with two other wives.

This goes to show that neither Robyn nor Kody respected any of the other wives’ sentiments when they shared that kiss. But in the preview for the Tell-All, Christine is implying that there is more to the story.

According to the reality TV star, Robyn and Kody definitely had a sexual relationship before their spiritual marriage.

In the mid-season trailer for Sister Wives Season 19, Christine brings up the couple’s steamy engagement photoshoot and alleges that no couple is this physically comfortable around each other unless they are sleeping together. Christine’s doubts have sparked tons of conversations online, as fans agree with her sentiment.

Was Robyn and Kody Brown’s Relationship Really All That Pure?

Longtime fans of the show will know just how much Kody and Robyn love to harp on about the purity of their relationship and their moral high ground.

But the Season 19 Tell-All promises to tear down their facade. Not to mention that Kody has already admitted to engaging in premarital sex when he was in college.

During an episode on Sister Wives Season 19, the patriarch admitted that he actually wasn’t a virgin when he got married for the first time. And if he was willing to bend the rule then, what’s to say that he wouldn’t have done it again with Robyn?

Speaking of Robyn, she also seems to have some unusual beliefs around the idea of divorce. The reality star was previously married to David Presto Jessop and had three children with him before she entered into a plural marriage with Kody Brown.

Now, when Christine separated from Kody Brown, Robyn made a controversial comment about how the divorce wouldn’t be real until her former sister wife slept with another man. 

Robyn bluntly claimed that this is how things worked in their faith, which led the fans to raise a lot of questions about her own divorce from Jessop.

Of course, the statement was shocking and angering because it implied that Christine wouldn’t be free until she was intimate with another man.

But the bigger concern here is that if Robyn truly believes that, it means she, too, was intimate with Kody to finalize her divorce from Jessop in her own twisted way. Otherwise, she would have been considered married to her previous husband, which would have gotten in the way of her engagement with Kody.
