General Hospital Jeff Kober Says Goodbye, Officially Exits As Cyrus Renault
General Hospital spoilers indicate Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) has officially exited storylines. During the Thursday, February 20 episode he was shot twice by Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) in an explosive confrontation.
Josslyn found Cyrus’ hidden hideaway and thinking he wasn’t around, she ransacked the place looking for evidence that would link him to Dex Heller’s (Evan Hofer) murder. She certainly found plenty of that!
After a face-off with Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) earlier that evening, which led to him stabbing Lucky Spencer (temporarily played by Guy Wilson) in the leg with a needle filled with digitalis, Cyrus caught Joss red-handed at the cabin.
He pulled out an ax, she pulled out a gun, shot twice, and the rest is history. (Make sure to check out our weekly GH spoilers, here)
Jeff Kober On His Exit
Kober recently talked to Soap Opera Digest (SOD) about his departure from the show. The actor noted to the online mag, “This is a character that was supposed to last six months, and here it is, five years later.” He went on to say, “I have nothing but gratitude toward Frank (Valentini – GH’s Executive Producer).”
He also had a beautiful message to the fans and stated, “I would like to thank the audience for working through their initial hatred of Cyrus — of course, this is just from social media, that’s all I can go on — to embracing him as a valid character and a good place to put their anger and judgment and hatred!”
Renault added, “I really do appreciate the fans’ appreciation of me and of the character and of the stories we were able to tell. There’s nothing like the GH audience! They’re so solid and delightful in all my experiences with them.”
While no one will miss the unexpected deaths of some of their favorite GH characters (at the hands of Cyrus), GH viewers will miss the incredible acting from Kober, and the edge-of-your-seat chaos and drama he brought to Port Charles!
