Heartbreak for General Hospital fans: Laura Wright Emotional Announcement Leaves Fans in Tears!

Sometimes it’s not what you do but what you don’t that gets noticed. Take, for instance, CBS Sunday Morning.

On New Year’s Eve, the news program paid its respects to the notables who were lost in 2023 — but forgot someone especially significant to soap fans in general and Laura Wright in particular.

“I love CBS Sunday Morning,” she tweeted on December 31, “and what a beautiful job you did on the farewell 2023 in-memoriam [package]. But how could you leave out Jacklyn Zeman?”

The daytime legend, who succumbed to cancer on May 9 at age 70, had played hooker-turned-nurse Bobbie Spencer on General Hospital since 1976.

Over the course of her illustrious career, the four-time Emmy nominee had carried one frontburner storyline (her character’s dogged pursuit of married man Scotty Baldwin) after another (the busting of her union with Tony Jones by surprise daughter Carly Roberts) after another (an ill-fated romance with womanizing doctor Noah Drake).

So Wright, who became the ABC soap’s fourth Carly in 2005, was left surprised (and not in a good way!) by CBS Sunday Morning’s omission of the veteran actress.

In fact, “I’m truly shocked and sad,” she said on X. “Jackie had an incredible career and should have been honored, no matter what network she worked on.”
