When Michael was sent to recuperate from his burns at the clinic in Germany, it marked the end of Chad Duell’s run on the soap but when Carly got on the plane alongside her son, many fans found themselves wondering if Laura Wright was leaving General Hospital , too!
Thankfully, anyone worried about such a thing can rest easy. When a fan asked the actress on Twitter/X if it was true that she was getting married and leaving the show for a while, Wright replied, “Nope, not true at all.” She also added the image of herself as an emoji giving a shrug as though wondering where such rumors come from.
Wright has been a fan favorite with soap fans ever since she made her daytime debut as Ally Rescott on Loving and brought the character over to the short-lived spinoff The City.
She went on to garner more fans with her 1997-2005 run as Cassie Layne on CBS sudser Guiding Light and still more when she joined the cast of GH as the newest Carly Corinthos in 2005.

Rumors can spread fast and furious on social media with some fans just believing everything they read, no matter what the source.
So it’s good when an actor can nip those rumors in the bud before they really get a chance to take off. Wright’s most recent rumor control before this was back in June 2024 when she shot down a news report in a GH Facebook group claiming she was leaving the soap.
Wright and real-life beau Wes Ramsey (ex-Peter, GH) are preparing to celebrate their eighth anniversary together this coming spring, so it’s only natural that some of their fans would wonder when they were going to make things official and tie the knot.
But as the couple insisted back in 2021, “We don’t really feel the need to.” Previously, the actress had to clarify that the ring eagle-eyed fans spotted on her finger was not an engagement ring, and that Carly’s pregnancy in 2019 was not to cover up her own real-life baby bump.
While Duell has said that he appreciated GH executive producer Frank Valentini leaving the door open for him to come back as Michael, if that day ever happens, it will be a ways off.
But once Carly gets Michael settled at the clinic in Germany, she’ll soon be winging her way back to Port Charles. But in the meantime, Wright can enjoy some well-deserved time off!
